HELP OUR TROOPS STAY COOL!

Summer is almost upon our troops in Afghanistan and Iraq and things are heating up on the battlefield and the thermometer! Even now before summer has even started temperatures in Iraq are already reaching 116 degrees and counting, with Afghanistan soon to reach similar numbers. As summer rolls around, it’s only going to get hotter in Iraq and our troops are going to need our help to stay cool and hydrated in the unforgiving desert of the Middle East.

That’s why our care packages come packed with Gatorade in a mixable powder that the troops can easily mix up in a cup of water or swish around in a water bottle to make a sweet, cooling drink that is packed with electrolytes and sugars that our troops get low on after sweating under the hot sun.

Heat exhaustion and dehydration are as much a danger to our troops as anything they face from Al Qaeda and the Taliban, but we can help our troops to conquer thirst so easily by simply making a small donation and sending a care package to the troops serving overseas.

Honor and support our troops, please make a
donation now and spare our troops the heat!

This is a good cause and thanks for posting it. I spoke with my son this morning, He and his fellow Infantry comrades are in Iraq. Power is out, no AC temp in the tent is 120+.

 Great job L&D Hand salute

Send a care package to a deployed family member, friend, free of charge. Booyaah!!
Here's a couple links

Operation Gratitude

Our Mission Hand salute

Tens of thousands of American Service Members are deployed in hostile and remote regions of the world, including the Middle East, Afghanistan, and on ships throughout international waters. The physical conditions they must endure are difficult and they may be separated from loved ones for long periods of time.

Operation Gratitude seeks to lift morale and put smiles on faces by sending care packages addressed to individual Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen and Marines deployed overseas. Operation Gratitude care packages contain food, hygiene products, entertainment items and personal letters of appreciation, all wrapped with good wishes of love and support.

Through Collection Drives, Letter Writing Campaigns and Donations of funds for shipping expenses, Operation Gratitude provides civilians anywhere in America a way to express their respect and appreciation to the men and women of the U.S. Military in an active, hands-on manner.

Operation Gratitude is a 501(c)(3) non-profit, volunteer-based corporation, funded entirely by private donations. For safety and security, the assembling of all packages occurs at the Army National Guard Armory in Van Nuys, California.

If you are the family member or friend of a combat deployed Marine, you can request a package to be sent to your Marine. There is no charge; this is a FREE service for Marines and their families. Packages are shipped five times each year: early January, mid-March, early June, mid-August and late October.

Sending packages to deployed troops is so very important. So many are discouraged and getting a care package from a stranger lifts their spirits and helps them to know that they are supported and that those back home do care for them and hold them in high regard.

Since my son is back home now I decided to adopt a Soldier and I was sent my Soldiers information a few weeks ago. Not knowing exactly where he was or what his conditions were I sent a email greeting him and I asked him to please share with me what he needed. His words back to me brought tears to my eyes.

He said he did not care what was in the package, it was the package itself, from a stranger that was important to him, not what was in it. He said just knowing that there are people out there who have not forgotten them.

So if you are able, please adopt a Soldier, a Marine, a Sailor and let's let them know that we have not forgotten them! It does not cost much. I sent a large flat rate box for 12.50. You can fill them up with most anything, if money is tight fill it with granola bars and fruit roll ups,if God has blessed you ,then fill it with a variety of goodies. They expect to get packages from Mom, and they expect to get them from their wives, but getting one from a stranger really shows them that their fellow citizens back home care.
